Harris

My Harris classmates and I went to Jean Lafitte National Park, and we had a great time. We were split up into many groups, my group was Bre'Anna, Derrion, Lindsey, Larrelle And Me Accaicia. When we first got there we went to this round building and had a talk with the park ranger Ami. She was talking about the animals and how we're helping the ecosystems by being there. A lot of the students finally realized that we were going to see real live animals. By there being a lot of trees there, it helps during hurricanes so the winds won't be so strongs. They don't hurt animals they save them and help there environment and by us being there we helped a lot.
The first thing my group went to was the Coquille Trail it was very instresting. We saw many differrent things such as trees, birds, and historic things. Before you go on the trail you have to be really quiet so you won't scare the animals. We saw a big tree, I think it was an Oak tree. In the middle of the trial we saw this beautiful bird on a tree, we tried so hard not to scare it away but we did sadly. A few minutes down the trial we saw a dead Bluebird, so we got a leaf and pushed it to the side. We also saw many historic things, talking about what was there before the Jean Lafitte was. Close to the end we stopped at this lake were they had many signs sayin beware you may see alligators. Then we walked back to the beggining of the trial and got on the bus and went to the round building.
After the Coquille Trial, we to the Bayou des Families to dip net. We were being really loud and all the fish started swimming away. We all finally hushed our mouths and started dipping our nets in nasty water. I had the bucket, Bre'Anna had the glove and Larelle had the net. The first time we dipped the net we had a leach, it was very weird because, it kept stretching out then going back to it's regular size. The second time we went to the other side of the dock to see if we would catch something, and we caught a baby crawfish. It was a really nice trip, I would really like to go back again. -4A.H.
