On our trip to Jean Laffite National Park we got to see the trees, plants, and we got to learn alot of things about the park it's self. The first thing we did when we got to the park was went to the educational center. We met Ranger Ami, and she told us a little bit about herself. She told us about before coming to Jean Laffite she worked at the Statue of Liberty. Her job there was to preserve the structure and it's beauty. She came to Jean Laffite National Park from the city, a dramatic change from city to woods. She told us about how the trees help stop winds and rain from coming into the city and destroying us. She finished by saying all of the fallen trees in the park had a story. She also reminded us that it was winter and we might not see as many animals, but that if we were quiet enough we might get to see a few. So we finally got on the trail, and i thought it was beautiful. There were so many different kinds of plants and trees. The landscape was beautiful. We went about the trail taking pictures, and having fun. Though we didnt see many animals we got to see a few birds and a salamander. While we were on the trail we didnt realize that the group of people we were with were ahead of us, so we had to race back to the bus before we got left behind. The next thing we did was go to the educational center, got some nets, and went out to the pond. Our goal was to find baby shrimp. We actully got to catch some and one person brought them home. So i can say that my experience at Jean Laffite was one worth remebering, and i recomend to anyone who wants to go there. I know T.H. Harris had a great time!
