T.H.Harris Project At Jean Lafitte National Park

My 2nd period social studies class went on a feild trip to Jean Lafitte National Park. First our teacher split us up in groups of 4 or 5. My group had 5 people and their names are Brittany, Marley, Travis,Marvine, and me.
The first thing that we did when we walked into the park ranger, Mrs. Ami, spoke to us little about the park. She told us about how the park is a home to the animals and if you take anything, you are destroying their home and where they live. New Orleans use to be covered in all trees and wet land. The trees also help stop the hurricanes and the bad storms from destoryng the land. Ranger Ami also said that each tree tells a story.
The first thing that our group did was take the trail. On the trail everybody had to stay quiet able to see or hear the animals that live their. The different kinds of plants are: Plam Palmeto, Moss, Dwarf Palmeto, and Cypress Tress. They did not have any animals come out because it was a little cold outside so some of the animals were probably hibernating. In the middle of the trail we saw a dead bird, alive birds, and a lizard. The trail that we went on was called Couqille Trail.
After we went on the trail we went Dip Netting. Our group cough a lot of shrimp. I had a lot of fun on this project Field trip. I would suggest you go their with your school and help them learn about Louisiana more.
